Azért óvatosabban bánjunk azzal, hogy a pénzügyi dereguláció volna. Némi védelem a The New York Times-ból.

Persze az is a történethez tartozik, hogy a South Sea Bubble idején fogadták el (éppen a társaság részvényárfolyamának feltornázása érdekében) a Bubble Actot, ami lényegében megtiltotta a további részvénytársaságok létrehozását. Ezt 1825-ben helyezték hatályon kívül.Van valaki, akinek ismerős az évszám? (Persze, az első reform-országgyűlés...) Ha nem ugrik be, íme:
Thus, 105 years after the Bubble Act was passed at the height of a speculative boom, it was repealed at the height of another. Between the passage of the repeal act, late in the hectic 1825 session, and the opening of the next session, in February 1826, the market lost its momentum and eventually crashed. In October many of the newly promoted companies were traded for the first time below par, and even prices of East India and Bank of England shares took a downward turn. On 25 October, a run on country banks began, followed in the next few weeks by bank failures, first in the country, and then also in London. On 14December, the reserves at the Bank of England were even lower than in the 1797 crisis, and it was as close as it had ever been to payment suspension.

Jelenleg csak az történik, amit Rand már jópár évtizede megírt:
No politico-economic system in history has ever proved its value so eloquently or has benefited mankind so greatly as capitalism -- and none has ever been attaked so savagely, viciously, and blindly. The flood of misinformation, misrepresentation, distortion, and outright falsehood about capitalism is such that the young people of today have no idea (and virtually no way of discovering any idea) of its actual nature. [...] It is being destroyed in the manner of a nightmare lynching -- as if a blind, despair-crazed mob were burning a straw man, not knowing that the grotesquely deformed bundle of straw is hiding the living body of an ideal.
